I think the political frame and power does explain a lot when it comes to mobilizing the efforts of a ton of engineers. However, I think the human resource frame is (and has been) badly neglected for quite some time. I think there has been much hype regarding the productivity benefits of ai and the financial implications, but outsourcing cognition to it conflicts with the needs for humans to find meaning and growth through work. The learnings of how ai affects workers skill growth is not really well emphasized and actually kind of an afterthought in my opinion.
